Journey from lush tropical rainforests to barren desert landscapes and snow-capped mountain peaks— as you discover unique Mechanimals and mysterious ruins in different regions, gradually uncovering the secrets of MOTIRAM.

That seems... familiar...

#4

Gameruilla deserves this, tbh.

#6

Audible "yo what" when I saw the key artwork

#7

There's only so many different ways to draw a robot animal tbh

Please avoid using sexually charged terms like 'glaze', as they can make other members uncomfortable - MarcelRguez, Dardan Sandiego, meatbag

I love how this game does EXACTLY THE SAME THING PALWORLD DID yet the immediate reaction I see rn from the very same people who glaze Pocket Pair non stop is:

"Wtf, how is this allowed, this is the most blatant plagiarism, zero originality, they should get sued"

This game is doing exactly the same thing you people encouraged this whole past year, why is it suddenly bad? The double standards against Nintendo are insane.

Ya know, Playstation didn't invent the concept of robot animals!

Also, Motiram just sounds like such a clunky word to say. None of the consonants go together

#10

That key artwork has a nice horizon view.

Really? I feel like there's dozens of other ways to do it that don't look almost identical to Horizon.
And even then why is the protagonist (or at least the character in the key art) a redhead with "primitive" clothing and a bow as her weapon?

Sarcasm.

looks at Zoids

Hmmm...

#14

Makes sense... and now I'm starting to remember the many people saying the same thing about Palworld designs, but being completely serious.

#15

At least this game doesn't have to worry about hiding behind Zelda and Elden Ring.

To me, even though I do not care for Palworld, it's not like it's the first Pokemon inspired cash grab out there, and at least has the energy of "what if Pokemon was fucked up and evil" making me lean more to viewing it as like a parody game. It's not much, especially with a lot of the designs being very obvious ripoffs that may not be legally distinct, but it's something that sets it apart. It's making the same unfunny "Pokemon are like slaves!" jokes that edgy Newgrounds parodies were making like 20 years ago, and I can see where having an intentionally similar art style sells the joke a bit better than having something actually distinct.

This is JUST Horizon. No joke or parody you can read from it.

#17

Pal changes the old rule.

Even the font looks like Horizon, wtf.

There's only so many ways you can design a font.

#21

Horizon 3 came around faster than I thoug… Wait a minute…

#22

There’s only so many ways you can design a tribal explorer with a bow and red hair in a bio-mechanical post-apocalyptic world mixing lush jungle and futuristic mecha-creatures too.

The whole derivative nature of the art direction is a real shame. The actual creature designs look original, I quite like the look of the fish, the pelican, the giant stag. But it’s the overarching art direction of the whole thing that screams ‘Horizon’ and overpowers what looks like some interesting bio mechanical design work. Which isn’t a concept Horizon has a lock on, but when you’re borrowing the whole look of their main character, their world, their setting, their mechs AND their colour palette, it just screams ‘we care more about the brand-association of ‘we’ve got Horizon at home’ than we do about how our own artists are actually quite good at biomech creature design.’

Aren't the horizon team working on an MMO right now too?

We are in our "inspiration era".

I wonder if this is a reason Tencent and Nintendo have had a break up. Tencent is planning to take "inspiration" from western/Japanese video games and make a quick buck from it.

#25

Is this the dawn of a whole new world of pals to tame?

#26

I wonder if the default name for the player char is Yola.

#27

"When will the industry stop plagiarizing Nintendo?"

Tencent: "Fine, we'll just plagiarize PlayStation then."

I betcha when an interviewer asks them about their inspiration, they will adamantly reject the notion that it was Horizon.

#29

When I saw the thumbnail I was like: "Wow they made a Horizon look-a-like". Then watching the trailer: "They just made Horizon".

I do think its funny that the Horizon multiplayer is being described as a MH-like and this game has some MH-like combat.

Alloy

it's a combination of metals

deep and meaningful name for a game about robots

nothing to do with Horizon

Time to pull up the Dragon Quest comparison chart again and accuse Horizon of copying DQ first!

#32

Yeeeeeeees Horizon 3 lets go
oh, wait

Yes and I think that game is being co-developed with NetEase, Tencent's biggest rivals

At least, I think that's the case. I know there's supposed to be a MMO/monster hunter-like and a live service mobile/pc/ps5 game, but I'm not sure if they're 2 separate projects or they're the same one - there's way too many Horizon projects happening.

Funnily enough it's been stated that Tencent are also developing a game that's copying Palworld

also the reaction of this game online has been quite funny.

#35

Even if this wasn't the most blatant thing in the universe, aren't people just tired of open world survival crafting games? Like aren't there already a thousand endless games you can choose from? I know that the suits don't really think about this, hence why we keep getting live service games that fail again and again, but this is an even older genre! It's like trying to cash in on WoW in this day and age

#36

Original game don’t steal

Zhuge says that this is the Tencent Palworld clone or is there another one?

#38

Meanwhile, at The Game Awards bunker :
"Fufufuuuu, guess which game I'm gonna give a full presentation during the event ? I lost Nintendo and now I'll lose Sony ! My plan is perfect and it makes sense when I don't think about it !"

#39

This game looks awesome. More interesting than Horizon actually. Hope this makes Guerilla take notice and improve Horizon.

Yeah. Been reading a lot of comments online that are still trying to defend Palworld by saying Light of Motiram is somehow way worse and more blatant. Like what? Both games are doing the same thing.

People keep saying that “at least Palworld changed the genre/gameplay” as if LoM isn’t just Horizon with a different genre and gameplay loop as well (adding survival craft mechanics like Palworld). Both games did the same thing. It’s sad how uninformed the vast majority of the internet are. Or maybe it’s just willful ignorance at this point to justify their double standards.

lol Sony just got Palworlded.

#44

When's this getting an anime deal?

Pal obviously did much more. As for this game, its success depends on Tencent's pricing strategy and operations. Imitating Horizon is not a good idea.

I don't think Sony will take on Tencent, it was easier for Nintendo to take on Palworld, but even Nintendo didn't take on Genshin for copying BOTW.

#47

When will Xbox announce it's getting a release on gamepass?

I'm sure they will be all over this lol

#48

When's this getting an anime deal?

Nintendo Pictures has to get on that, it's only fair

#49

Horizon 3: Light of Motiram looks crazy.

#50

What? Did Sony invent animal robots, women protagonists with red hair and post apocalyptic stuff? Of course not!
