During Chapters 2 - 4, Long Forgotten Flame, you'll be met with the objective of "Search for the Black Flame." However, it doesn't really tell you where or what to do from there. Here's where to find the Black Flame during the story in Monster Hunter Wilds.
Search for the Black FlameNow you need to get ready — we recommend restocking your healing items and going out with Fire Resistant armor again — and go search for the Black Fame. The thing is, this is the first time you don’t know the location of the monster you’re hunting.
But don’t worry too much, since finding it will require only one extra step. Once you’re ready to go, you need to exit the Basin hub area, using the exit to the area labeled with a 7. It will be on the north according to your compass, and it’s the path that you can find after going past Alma and taking the right.
Once you enter Area 7, you’ll quickly find a clue on the ground - Tar Excretions. Examine it to discover it's Oilmucus belonging to ???.
advertisementWith the clue found, you can now send your scoutflies in search of the beast. Open your map and it will appear with its name and ??? as its description.
Now you just need to set it as a Waypoint by pressing the right stick and mount your Seikret. It will lead you straight to it, in Area 15. On the way down, your Palico will recommend a place to set up a camp in Area 9. Do it to have a checkpoint in case things go wrong.
