So coop seems to be rather smoothed out. If you have a lobby ID, you can send that to whomever you want, wherever in the world, on whatever platform, and they can join you. You have Hunter Friends, an internal friends list, so your friends can easily join you. Cutscenes are per the individual, rather than like World where you need to back out for a cutscene, so theres no lack of flow. You also have new Link Parties, which is a group of 4 that will stick together after a quest ends. So, let's say friend A, B and C, are going through the story together. An hour or so in, friend D wants to join. He can, and continue with them through the story, if he's made it to that. It's a lot more complex by far this time around, but it's a lot more flexible, and combines features from World and Rise's MP settings and setups.Originally posted by Xaelon:Because private lobbies and story content (except for the very first tutorial section) were not in the last playtest the best answer I can give you is "probably".Joining quests in general is much more straightforward because there is no loadscreen between hub and quest anymore. I assume that means once someone's started a story quest and watched any cutscenes other people in the same private lobby can just join the quest and ride straight out to the quest's target monster. The one hang-up I can think of is with locked regions. I am going to assume that if you were to host a quest in a biome a friend doesn't have unlocked they probably won't be able to join. Then again we don't know how the game determines world state (ie what areas are open, etc) because private lobbies weren't avalible during the playtest. Other open world games use the host's quest progress to determine what things are unlocked so maybe Wilds works the same way. We'll have to see. Locked Regions dont make anything different to how theyve been before. HR is your progression gate, if you dont have the HR, you dont get to play with the big kids. Same thing as different MP centers. In World, players could be in both Astera and Seliana, and hunt together, same with being in Kamura and Elgado. Hell, you could be in Val Habar and Dundorma in 4U, have no issues.Originally posted by Laughing kookaburra:it might be even worse this timeon the beta version, when you first boot the game, it asks you to choose a game region, once you have done this you can not change region anymore, if your friend selected a different region than yours, it's impossible to coop with them, even with using VPN or changing steam download region will not work. Game region does not effect being able to join friends. I played with friends in a different US state, roughly 400 miles away, played with a friend in London, and their friend from London, and play with someone within the same region as myself, no issues. Choosing your region also didn't effect randoms, I played with folks from Japan, Korea, China, all over North and South America, the Middle East, and Europe. It's was also a mixed bag of console and PC players, so it's unlike the console folks were using VPNs on their PS5s or XBOX1Xes.
