"body": "okay this could be seen as me trying to gatekeep but its not my intention: I really don't see a reason to go SSF mode in Ruthless, I know I'm a big meany or whatever hear me out:\n\nTrade is damn near SSF even if you're trying to trade. You're basically SSF with at least some option to get a gem or item you need eventually if you're patient.\n\nThere's literally 4 determinations up for sale RN... and thats counting offline. I know its not technically SSF but yeah it kinda is. If we only include online there's 1 determination available and its 55 alchs so yeah you got 55 alchs? I sure don't.\n\nTbh I didn't expect this, I figured the people trying the mode out (looky loos so to speak) would flood the economy at least early days but its not worked out that way and trade is closer to a private league economy.\n\nAnyway perceived gatekeep aside, play the mode you enjoy by all means just throwing it out there.",

{
"body": "I tried Trade first but it felt too similar to normal Trade leagues, all the upgrades were coming from trades and not from drops.\n\nI got my ideal 4-link before getting to maps and the damage was pretty much on par what it would be in normal leagues.\n\nMapping still felt different ofc because no movement skills but that just made the focus on checking trade site over gameplay even bigger."

"body": "I do think the restrictions to support gems are a little heavy handed in ruthless tbh. Getting through the campaign is one thing, but they could have at least made it so lily can sell you a decent variety after beating the campaign. They even could have made it so she sells them for pretty expensive prices, expensive for ruthless anyways, to make it just as difficult but at least give you something to work towards. \n\nThe way ruthless is now you basically have to accept that your first and possibly even second character is going to basically be an item and gem mule who only exists to farm up currency, gear, and supports for your real build. If I do ruthless again next league that's exactly how I'm going to treat it. I'll do righteous fire or something that literally doesnt need to have support gems or gear and isnt expected to do high maps, and just farm low maps, delve, and incursion repeatedly until I have everything I need for my real build."
},
{
"body": "I won't be surprised if next league ggg do something like they did with dead reckoning to get some support gems.\nI think it's pretty clear that relying on the rng for a drop is broken.\nSame as dead reckoning in ssf was broken... hence the change."
},
{
"body": "I am not sure how this holds for ruthless, but in regular PoE if you wanted to farm gems you could target counter-thaumaturgy in heist (gems are one of the main rewards). \n\nThere were two ways of getting a lot of contracts: 1) you can buy them (vendor refreshes upon level up). 2) The quest contracts (green ones) are guaranteed to drop every time you open a smugglers chest and you have a quest line with a contract available. The trick is to complete all contracts EXCEPT the ones of the heist type you want (i.e. counter-thaumaturgy), for the counter-thaumaturgy ones run in, open the chests, DO NOT PICK UP THE PRIMARY TARGET, and run out without completing the quest. Eventually every heist chest will drop a quest contract, and the only quests available will have gems as rewards.",
