"selftext": "Hi folks, i have recently unlocked 2nd party and modron and had a look at some guides and posts related to gem farming and im wondering how to set the most efficient strategy with my current champs and familiars.\n\nI have currently 7 familiars and 5k gems away from the 8th\n\nMy speed champs are Laezel, Briv, Melf and Minsc.\n\nI am confused between setting an auto-click damage only party and using speed champs but i have read somewhere that speed abilities do not work in offline mode so it seems pretty pointless to put any of the speed guys in the modron party. \n\n am I missing anything?\n\n",

"body": "As others said, speed mechanics do not function in background parties, so gem farming is something that is only generally done in the foreground party. Personally, I think that if you want gems, you are probably better of getting your secondary party to do some adventures and variants and collect the gems from the completion rewards at first. \n\nFor the most part, you will have, early in the game, only one party that is really good at pushing, so you can set that up in the foreground with your speed champs to finish the adventure/variant faster. In the meantime, your background party will have cleared a bunch of levels of the second adventure so, once the foreground adventure is done, you can then just switch your main party to that adventure to push deeper and finish it, setting your secondary party to another adventure. Rinse and repeat as much as you want. \n\nAlso should be pointed out that in background parties, you really only need 2 familiars, one on click damage and one on click damage upgrade and then, every once in a while, go in and lvl up your champs with the money you made offline. Adding more familiars to the clicking field does not increse the speed of background parties, so there is no need to have more than 1 clicking.\n\nIf you really want to do \"proper\" gem farming, the best champions to have are: Briv, Widdle, Sentry, Shandie, Hew Maan, and BBEG. Combined, with enough item levels, this formation can get you a huge amount of gems but it does require a lot of items levels.\n\nIf I were to start anywhere, I would say start with Shandie and BBEG as their speed mechanic does not require item levels to work, so that should be easier to get going.\n\nIf you want any more info, I also recommend going to the discord channel and asking there.",

It's not fast, but gems are gems.\n\nIf you're doing foreground farming, there's a whole shittload of optimized stuff to focus on, if you're into that.",

Foreground Party and the PC on are needed otherwise it's just like BGP progress which is to say: minimal.\n \nBriv requires 'Scripting' or an elaborate plan... he actually won't be that useful without it so he's optional early on.\n \nBackground gem farming doesn't get much, but if you aren't using them for other stuff it's better than nothing. Just 2 Familiars and a Seat-1 champion are required. Cursed Farmer has no segmented or armoured enemies."
