"title": "New player here, I filled my stash with skill gems.",
"selftext": "So, I got this game recently. Harbinger is my first league and right now I'm just messing around with friends. \n\nHowever, while leveling a couple characters, I've noticed that I'm obsessively picking up skill gems and throwing them in my stash. Between them and uniques my stash is mostly full (https://imgur.com/a/hJPiD) and I'm wondering if I should just trash all of them. Is there any gems that I should see if I have and keep,and then just delete the rest?",

"body": "I keep a tab of gems with quality and vendor them en mass when its almost full; keeps me topped up on GCPs. Any high level gems I might want to use go in a misc tab or sold. Enhance, detonate mines, and added chaos are worth something the first week or so of the league, but basically don't sell after. Empower and Enlighten are always worth a little. Portal is nice to have around, I usually 20 quality and vaal them when I have a ton of GCPs for the off chance I get a ~~20% Vaal Breach~~ level 2 portal ;) this is extremely wasteful though. That said 20% or 23% portal is nice for the reduced cast time.\n\nTL;DR search the tab for \"quality\", pick those out, then dump the rest."
},
{
"body": "You could go through here looking for drop only gems or gems that have experience or gems that have quality that can sell for chaos.\n\nBut honestly, 2 tabs worth of trash gems isn't worth the time + effort. In the search at the bottom, type 'quality' and just sell all of those to a vendor for some GCP. Trash all of the rest. Use your stash tabs for better items and keep farming for currency. The time it would take to touch this is not worth it.\n\nNew players often have difficulty learning how to price / value items. That only comes from time, and from learning how affixes work. Gems on the other hand don't have this value. There is no reason to hoard them. Whatever marginal profit you would get maybe from selling these piecemeal is forfeit compared to doing any other activity and the profits that could be made by simply having more stash space.\n\nTL;DR: Delete all, or delete almost all and sell quality to vendor. Not worth time."
},
{
"body": "Empower, Enlighten, Enhance are gems that have a maximum level of 3(4). They also take the longest of any gem to level. These are drop only, and if leveled are quite valuable. Depending on how old the league is, they can be valuable on their own.\n\nAdded Chaos Damage is fairly niche, but it is drop only. It's worth saving at least one.\n\nPortal is always a little valuable. Worth saving.\n\nDetonate Mines isn't worth much nor is it really used by many people. But people do make weird setups out of it, so it does sell occasionally. Worth saving one just for posterity's sake.\n\nVaal Haste, Grace and Clarity are very popular. All of which tend to sell fairly well. Drop only.\n\nVaal Discipline and Vaal Summon Skeletons are somewhat popular. Not nearly as valuable, but worth picking up if you're still new.\n\nAll gems with 15%+ quality are worth picking up. If they're not commonly used, you can simply vendor 3 of them together for a GCP(or 8 for 3 GCP). 40% quality gives you a GCP. Many 15q gems will sell for 3c+1c per quality. In a less established league, like the first week of any fresh league, this price is significantly higher. Same with meta skills, especially supports with significant impact.\n\nAlso, if you get a gem that's leveled to 19 or 20, always keep. "
