"selftext": "Hey everyone. Just picked up the game and I'm having a trouble finding any build guides that have been updated in the last 6 months or so. cRPG Bro's videos have been helpful, but I can tell that there have been some changes made to certain aspects of the game that they don't account for. Now I'm not certain how extensive these changes are from a game play perspective, and I've been figuring things out alright for the most part, but it would be nice to have up to date explanations for certain spec choices.\n\nAre their any updated guides available, or have content creators just kind of moved on at this point?",

"body": "I watched CRPGBro's recent video on Buff/Nerfs that came with the last patch, and he said he in it that he might work on new build guides in August after the DLC launches.\nIdk about any other creators. He was the only one I cared to watch because I liked some of his Baldur's Gate 3 build guides.\nI think most current builds are still viable. Really only Officer's ability to spam extra turns was the biggest nerf.",

"body": "You have really bad timing as a massive patch just dropped (and with it new bugs, some old bugs, and some spreading bugs).\n\n\nSo every build you see out there is likely outdated. However you can still use them as guides to make your own. Most abilities and talents haven't changed their purpose. It's mostly been scaling changes.\n\n\nThough notable exceptions like killing edge and seize the initiative have changed roles.\n\n\nIf a content creator or build guide tells you some info on why they pick stuff you might be able to correct the build for the new patch and mostly follow along. If not the. Lowering the difficulty can be an option to make the build work (builds are usually up to unfair so they should work good enough on other difficulties)\n\n\nBut atm there are no up-to-date build guides without speculation. If someone is going hard enough then maybe they are writing one right now but I doubt it. Content creators will probably wait for the DLC or just before it",

"body": "True though the other big patch was mostly changing flat damage to % so for the most part stuff retained their role, even if it lost or gained power it did the same thing.\n\nThis patch we have changes to how stuff works rather than just scaling or number changes so it outdates old builds more in a sense.\n\nThe lack of something like Midnight Isles/stolen land (unless you want to run the same 3 fights on warp jumps) makes updating builds a considerable investment and aren't that many clicks (cost vs opportunity and all that)"

"body": "lol I’m only one guy, I’m currently finishing another video, and then I have another project to do. I’ll most likely be updating around the time the DLC gets out, hopefully sooner. \n\nBeen really busy at work. Not enough time to game/youtube.",

"body": "The ones I was following were fine, except for one change. Now they're almost all wiped out.\n\nTo be fair, I've intentionally skipped 1.2 so the guides are still good for me."

"body": "Like others have said you came at a bad time. Crpg bros guides are still good but I would use them as learning guide to since they're a little outdated.\n\nI would focus on the idea of what the abilities enable. For example abelard is often made a tank. So I would pick abilities with stuff like parry, deflect and counter attacking. \n\nI use yrilet as a sniper and I plan to go assassin and take the opening/lethal type of abilities."
