"body": "In OW1, all heroes was free. Then when OW2 started, they started to charge for heroes. It required either buying battle pass (which is 10 bucks and comes free with bp and unlocks instantly), if you don't buy BP, you have to exp farm to lvl 55 to get the hero or waiting for the end of the season and do hero challenges to get it for free next season. But this season, OW devs admitted that this move was a mistake because in OW, you have to adapt your comp and change heroes during match. So they made the heroes free again.\n\nSince you can do the same in Marvel Rivals and change your heroes during match, i hope and assume they will make them free. They can still make loads with skins, intros and all the other cosmetics + possibly a BP.",

Characters require the most work to implement so it would make sense to charge, but I'm not sure the route they'll go with. Hard to guess the BP unlocks too in the Alpha we have what 3 epic/legendary/whatever skins, but the last unlock that we keep is just a recolor."

"body": "As far as I can tell characters would be free (and there’s gonna be loads more on full release) and skins cost 1,200 credits for a blue which is mostly recolours, 2,000 credits for full redesigned skins pulled straight from the pages of comics (and some original designs inspired by comics)\n\nFor reference I got 3,500 by lvl 7 last night, of course this is all heavily subject to change at this point though"

"body": "It's probably foolish, but I hope they make it so you don't have to unlock characters.\n\nIn a superhero game, cosmetics are gonna be making absolute bank anyway and they're gonna have their battlepass on top of that. The daily/weeklies for the battlepass is already going to give people something to grind for.\n\nLet us just play with the characters we really like, then let us pay/grind for the cosmetics.",

"body": "It most likely won't I feel like money is going to be used as much as possible in F2P games like this. Pay for battle pass, pay for skins, pay for characters, pay for sprays/emotes, etc etc. I would love if everyone was free and the cosmetics cost money, but that would probably just make the cosmetics overly expensive.",

"body": "I'm half way expecting it but as is the case with a lot of live service games, if they get too greedy it's gonna hurt the game. If they charge for characters it might do worse being that this is a game following the OW formula where you're supposed to be able to switch to counter what's going on in the game.\n\nCosmetics make an absurd amount of money even if they aren't absurdly priced just because they're that popular. They're gonna be even more popular in a third person super hero game where these are characters many of us have loved since our childhoods.\n\nOn top of that, they have a near endless supply of artwork to use from comics and movies that'll get even more people on board with buying skins."
