Steam is allowed to as are other businesses, the sanctions are largely on Russia's banking and the functions of funds that go to its goverment and military, video games are not really under the full cloak that is the sanction blanket, Steam simply cant sell games to Russian users at this time but Russian players are still allowed to play games they still own, that was actually confirmed already because Bloomberg tried to take Steam to the Supreme court but that was discarded as it found Steam is indeed fully complying with sanctions that are in place, and within all context Steam is not doing anything bad by allowing people in Russia to play when they still own in terms of games which is 100% fair enough.Originally posted by biesoid:https://www.census.gov/foreign-trade/balance/c4621.htmlWhy is US still importing stuff from Russia would be a better question. The US only had to downgrade import trades with Russia, Russia is also only banned from selling the US the following: seafood, alcohol and diamonds. While the US cant trade the following to Russia: vehicles, alcohol, jewelry, iron and steel.Otherwise both nations are allowed to still fully trade outside of those restrictions, their not barred from trade, their just heavily placing limits on it.
