Being able to play as iron man, who you have seen in 10 or so movies since 2008, is an easier thing to get invested in than a new character in a new universe we know nothing about or have no connection to.\n\nThat being said, I still think both games miss the mark for different reasons."

"replies": [
{
"body": "I'd rather pay 40 dollars than be nickel-and-dimed for each character or a battle pass, not to mention a new original IP. \n\nI understand the “Discounr Guardian of the Galaxy” vibe, but at least that can be fleshed out as the game evolves. It's not even released yet. I remember the same exact criticism being thrown at the “Guardians of the Galaxy” game in the preview phase, and it affected sales, but that game rocked.\n\nHowever, I don't think price has anything to do with the majority of the hate Concord has received. Even if they went free to play, I think there are just general bad vibes the gaming community has around it that don't make much sense to me. I feel that Marvel Rivals is much closer to a cash grab than Concord is, but community sentiment seems indifferent. \n\nIt's probably just me. Concord will need a long time to simmer after release if they expect to turn the tide like Warframe or Rainbow Six Seige."

"body": "I like overwatch, at its core it’s a good game for several reasons which is why it’s been so popular in the last decade. \n\nI also like marvel (recent MCU aside) \n\nThis game is a very good overwatch clone. It’s just that simple. It brings fresh design/style/characters while also being familiar enough to ease into well. It’s ok if the game is not for everyone but it does what it tries to be well"
},
{
"body": "People were hyped by the reveal cutscene only to find out it's another live service game. Concord hasn't been able to shake that off."

{
"body": "I couldn’t even make it through this video. The game looks not fun. I hate to say. The art style doesn’t look great either. \n\nAs for Concord, I absolutely love the art style. It gives me a very Star Warsy feel. So much so that I wish it was actually Star Wars instead. \n\nIdk. Based off playing a little bit of Concord and seeing this video, I’d take Concord. But no way in hell I’m gonna pay even $40 for it. I didn’t realize it was a PlayStation game until just now. That makes me want to support it, but still."
},
{
"body": "Played both betas with friends\nJust this one day of playing his been more fun than the couple days we gave to concord. Will be playing more of it during the rest of the days it's available but I know at this point it definitely feels like a game we'll be adding to our rotation especially due to the fact that it'll be free"
},
{
"body": "Concord didn't get a pass cause it has no sauce. It's an extremely bland shooter with a 40€ price tag on top of it. \n\nMarvel does not only have a much better mass appeal, the game also has an interesting art style and actually could provide some competition to overwatch which people were hoping to get for a long time now. \n\nNot that hard to understand.",
"replies": [
{
"body": "The art style is wack but the shooting is solid and destiny-esque I wouldn't say it's bland"

},
{
"body": "Because concord is incredibly bland? One of the most important aspects of making a video game especially a hero shooter is making appealing character designs. The characters in concord are bland and derivative. While marvel rivals not only is free but also using marvel characters which obviously people like."
},
{
"body": "I'm surprised this question even needs to be asked, it is pretty obvious IP recognition plays a big role in how this game is perceived vs Concord. I am more willing to play a hero shooter where I can play as some of my favorite characters as opposed to random characters I have no attachment to.\n\nThe other reason being this has a lower barrier to entry since it is free to play you lose nothing by trying it out, as opposed to Concord which is 40 dollars."
