"body": "PC and mobile gaming are hard to compare. But we can compare PC gaming to a consoles. Xbox - 2%, Nintendo - 2%, Playstation - 14% and the rest is PC market. \n\nIt's hard to name the most popular video game but CS:GO is still very popular as well as Dota 2 and World of Tanks."

"body": "PC is most popular, mostly because mobile games are not considered “serious” games (plus, most of them are BRUTALLY expensive, especially free ones). \n\nCSGO has its own cybersport niche. Warcraft and Starcraft series are quite popular. Fallout and Half Life have cult following. World of Tanks/Warships has always been good around. That’s just the ones that come to my mind.\n\nMany older series had games that remain popular to this day - like Red Alert 2 and pre-remake Diablo II.\n\nResident Evil entire series - except maybe Village - had a good amount of fans.\n\nMortal Kombat is very well known :P\n\nToday, we all enjoy Baldur’s Gate 3.\n\nUPD: how could I forget the DotA2, may they suffer for eternity...",

"body": "I was writing my master’s thesis on a videogame related topic and that involved researching a bunch of stats. Here’re some of the findings for 2022 that you might find interesting:\n\n- about 60% of Russians above the age of 18 play videogames. That number more than tripled since 2018. Around 21% of the remaining non gamers say they’re close involved with someone who plays videogames. When it comes to demographics, the split among male/female gamers is close to even - 54% to 46%\n\n- despite what other comments suggested, mobile is unsurprisingly the most popular platform by a pretty large margin, 74% of Russian gamers play on phones or tablets. Because of regional specifics coming in second is PC with 48% (numbers don’t add up because this question in the survey asked about what people play on in general, not their preferred platform, thus multiple choices were allowed). The list closes with consoles being chosen by 9% of Russian gamers.\n\n\nThe stats on the most popular titles are harder to come buy, but from what I’ve seen, stuff that appeals to middle aged male gamers (I.e world of tanks, warships, etc) consistently tops the charts, followed by more traditional competitive titles like CS:GO, DOTA 2, League of Legends, Valorant etc."
