"title": "PSA: Potential Permanent Performance Issues with Helldivers 2 on PS5 (Console Crashing & Visual Artifacts)",
"selftext": "Hey everyone,\n\nI'm writing to share a concerning experience I've had with Helldivers 2 on PS5. While playing the game, I encountered some unexpected performance issues and hard crashing. It's important to note that I've been using a PS5 since launch without any issues like this before, and this is a new console I purchased last November. I also want to emphasize that I regularly clean my console and vents every few months. I also want to point out that my console placement might not the best in terms of airflow, but I've never seen this kind of issue even while running the most demanding of games in the same placement.\n\nHere's what happened: After playing Helldivers 2 for a couple of hours, my console suddenly hard crashed. There were no prior warnings or error messages about overheating. When I tried turning it back on, the screen displayed green square particles everywhere and became unresponsive. Included a short video below (Sorry for the crappy recording >.>)\n\nhttps://reddit.com/link/1beh5jo/video/2u3dvrv0n9oc1/player\n\nBefore resorting to a hard reset, I went through all the basic troubleshooting steps. This included unplugging the console for a while, trying a different power cable, and ensuring all connections were secure, even rebuilding database and repairing data. Unfortunately, none of these steps resolved the issue. My PS5 is currently bricked. Dropped it at a sony maintenance center, hopefully they can fix my dear baby ;-;\n\nWhile I can't say for certain that Helldivers 2 directly caused this, the timing of the crash and the lack of prior overheating issues on my new, console raise some concerns. There have also been reports in this subreddit of potential overheating problems with the game.\n\n**I'm posting this to:**\n\n* Raise awareness about potential permanent performance issues with Helldivers 2 on PS5.\n* Encourage others to be cautious while playing the game and monitor their console's performance.\n* See if anyone else has encountered similar problems with Helldivers 2 or the PS5.\n\nIf you've had any crashes, visual glitches, or other unexpected behavior while playing Helldivers 2, please share your experiences in the comments below. Maybe together we can gather more information and bring this to the attention of the developers.\n\nI really enjoyed this game a lot, but now I'm very much terrified of playing it on PS5.. gave up my progress and bought it on PC instead (bye bye democracy trophies ;-;). I really hope this gets the amazing dev team's attention, I want to encourage and recommend this game to everyone but I definitely can't with these kinds of issues happening.\n\nPS: yes, I've used Gemini to write up this post :p, but also made modifications here and there to match my experience.\n\n***TLDR:*** *My new PS5 crashed and displays visual glitches after playing Helldivers 2. Tried all troubleshooting & maintenance (regular cleaning, unplugging, etc.) with no success. While overheating can't be confirmed, the timing and online reports raise concerns.*\n\nEdit: Finally got a response from the maintenance center, they said the console is complete ded, they couldn't explain what happened. Recieved a new one now thankfully, moved on to play the game on PC :P",
