"selftext": " \nMy specs (check below) are almost identical to the recommended specs, but the first time I play the game, it is so lagging that there is no running animation, and it is often frozen. When the bug spawns, it is frozen multiple times, so I need to randomly shoot to pass the tutorial. \n\nNow I need to set everything to low so I can play, but I'm curious, as these are the recommended specs and not the minimum ones, why it is so lagging. \n\nThere is no other background program except Steam and Discord.\n\nAnyone have similar specs? Can you share the settings, please?\n\n\n\n \n RECOMMENDED\n\n* Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system \n\n* **OS:** Windows 10 \n\n* **Processor:** Intel Core i7-9700K or AMD Ryzen 7 3700X \n\n* **Memory:** 16 GB RAM \n\n* **Graphics:** NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 or AMD Radeon RX 6600XT \n\n* **Storage:** 100 GB available space \n\n* **Additional Notes:** SSD Recommended \n\n\n My specs\n\n* Requires a 64-bit processor \n\n* **OS:** Windows 11 \n\n* **Processor:** Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-9750H CPU @ 2.60GHz (12 CPUs), \\~2.6GHz \n\n* **Memory:** 32 GB RAM \n\n* **Graphics:** NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 \n\n* **Storage:** 100 GB+ available space \n\n* **Additional Notes:** SSD",

"body": " It seems that your system specs are indeed quite close to the recommended requirements for the game. However, there are a few factors that could be contributing to the lagging issue. Here are some suggestions to help you improve the performance: \n \n\n1. **Clean Windows Installation:** As suggested, consider trying the game on a clean Windows installation. A fresh operating system install can sometimes eliminate conflicts or issues that may arise from cluttered or corrupted system files.\n2. **Processor Performance Gap:** Note that there is a performance gap between the recommended Intel Core i7-9700K and your Intel Core i7-9750H. While the i7-9750H is a powerful processor, it's designed for laptops and might have slightly different performance characteristics compared to the desktop counterpart. You can refer to the UserBenchmark Compare to understand the differences better.\n3. **Power Plan Settings:** Since you're playing on a laptop, make sure you are using the highest power plan available in Windows. This ensures that your laptop is utilizing its maximum performance capabilities, which can be crucial for demanding games.\n 1. Open the Power Options in Windows.\n 2. Select the High-Performance power plan.\n4. **Thermal Management:** Laptops, especially gaming laptops, can suffer from thermal throttling if they get too hot. Make sure the laptop is on a flat, hard surface that allows proper airflow. Consider using a cooling pad to help dissipate heat.\n5. **Check for Background Processes:** Verify that there are no unnecessary background processes consuming system resources. Even with a clean Windows installation, some applications may run in the background and affect performance.\n6. **UserBenchmark Compare:** Review the [UserBenchmark Compare](https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i7-9750H-vs-Intel-Core-i7-9700K/m766364vs4030) results for the processors (i7-9700K vs. i7-9750H) to understand the performance differences and whether they might be contributing to the lagging issue.",

"body": "Thank you. I never notice the performance gap if you do not point it out, so I think it is below recommended, and I am going to play on a low or a bit better quality setting as I am able to play it well. \n\nBut I'm still thinking, I can play now, but how about the harder difficulty? As more opponents will appear and better weapons too, do you think if I set it to a low setting, I can still play on harder difficulty?",

"body": " You're welcome! I'm glad the information was helpful in understanding the potential performance gap.\n\nRegarding playing on a higher difficulty setting, it's possible that even with lower graphical settings, the increased number of opponents and more challenging scenarios may still put a strain on your system. However, given that you've optimized the settings to play smoothly at a lower quality, you can certainly give it a try and see how the game performs.\n\nAs for the \"performance gap\" and thermal throttling, you're correct in your understanding. Gaming on a laptop, especially with mobile CPUs, can lead to higher temperatures due to the compact form factor and limited cooling capabilities. Thermal throttling can occur when the system gets too hot, impacting performance. It's a variable factor, and while lower graphical settings can help mitigate this, pushing the system to its limits with higher difficulty levels may still lead to thermal challenges.\n\nIn summary, try increasing the difficulty and see how the game performs. If you encounter any issues, you may need to find a balance between graphical settings and gameplay difficulty that provides an enjoyable and smooth gaming experience on your laptop.\n\n**P.S:** Performing a clean Windows install can indeed have a significant impact on system performance, especially if the previous installation was burdened with bloatware or unnecessary applications. After installing drivers, testing the game on different settings is a crucial step to identify the root causes of performance issues."

"body": "That's a mobile (laptop) processor, so I'm going to assume it's in a laptop. What is the brand?\n\nThere are a so many different ways manufacturers can setup their firmware for laptops, that unfortunately, the specs above are *almost* meaningless (without the brand).\n\nWhat you can do, before you update your OP with the brand, is go check your laptop manufacturer for ALL the firmware updates. UEFI (replacement for BIOS), Thunderbolt firmware, PD (power distribution firmware), Intel Management Engine (IME) firmware, Intel Dynamic Platform Thermal Framework (IDPT) etc. **update them all.**\n\nUnnecessary Background on Why the Specs are mostly meaningless:\n\nAs an example, in a laptop, there will be a TDP (power) limit for the CPU, and for the GPU. Add them together and you get a combined TDP (There's a limit for that too!) Some manufacturers balance the TDPs differently than others and some also allow you to change the settings for TDP and adjust how much the GPU or CPU can consume."
