SSG - can we get a definitive answer on why stuck on loading screen is still not fixed after 16 years?

This bug has been in the game since launch as far as I know and literally *nothing* has been done about it.
After being stuck on loading screen every time I recalled out of tangleroot today I have given up and logged out.
Or is having to alt-tab out and manually close the screen then relog a "feature"??!
I wouldn't mind but the current player population of DDO would be hard pressed to fill a small corner of one of the taverns in Stormreach harbour. Yet *still* the same issue crops up again and again.
*frustrated*
:(

16 years is but a blip in SSG's timeline, especially when it comes to non-beneficial bugs. Come back after 50 or 100 years to see if this is fixed.

On an unrelated note: Blizzard banned 145,000 accounts last quarter for cheating.
Imagine having the player base that allows you to monitor aggressively for misbehavior and ban on that scale!

maybe it's time you upgraded?

That usually occurs when you computer is no longer able to communicate with the DDO server. There isn't much SSG can do if computer and server serve divorce-papers to each other

What!? That was my upgrade..... lol

I had an issue a few years back and this fixed it. The loading screens are jpgs down in a folder in the DDO folder.
Your drive>program files>x86>standing stone games>dungeons and dragons online>raw>en>logo
There are also fr and de folders so check them too.
It was possible for the files to get corrupted and appear as html so the system could not resolve them. Not sure if this is a thing but if any of the generic screens are html change the extension to jpg.
Not sure what would happen if they are deleted so I accept no responsibility for any damage to your computer or game
Good luck.

SSG started to post the answer to this question when it was first asked 16 years ago but it got hung up on forum load screen, I'm sure it'll come thru any day now.
But seriously, they fixed the "recovering from failed teleport" error recently; so slowly they're dealing some really old bugs.

145,000 accounts, but it was only 7 players.

After months of testing solutions, switching ISPs and contracts, I accidentally discovered a solution.
Play with WIFI. When playing using the cable ALWAYS hangs on the loading screen. If I play using WIFI the problem does not occur.
I don't know why!

my personal crackpot theories...
1) The longer I play, the more likely this'll happen. Possible memory issue that builds up over time.
2) Bank usage and hoarding. Possible memory issue due to massive amounts of items being loaded and stored for "easier" reference.
I multibox *gasps of horror*, and I've noticed that long loading screens and stuck loading screens happens almost entirely on my main account, and not my alt accounts, even though they're running on the same computer. Opening my bank on my main account exacerbates the problem. My main account has a bank filled with items from multiple characters, and TR caches. After they load the first time, I notice everything (especially loading screens) slows down and becomes even more likely to get stuck. My alt accounts do not have nearly as much stored/banked loot or TR caches, and they almost never experience loading screen issues.
Not long ago D4 came under critisism for lack of stash space and it was revealed that every player in an area loads everyone else's full inventory and stash for "easier trade" but it also causes massive lag in public zones due to all the data being loaded by everyone. Is DDO double checking player bank info every time we go into a new zone? Based on my anecdotal and biased observations, it certainly feels like it.

I mean.... sometimes Microsoft Windows keeps getting stuck on whatever screen...or Blue Screen of Death, and it's been how many decades?
they might fix some cases of it in one bugfix version, but then it happens in some other cases later on down the line....
