I have the Chaotic Freeze support gem attached to my Contagion spell. There is no freez buildup from the choas damage over time. I've tested this for a good 20 minutes now.

It doesn't say that the Chaos Damage over Time causes Freeze Buildup.
It says Chaos Damage from Hits causes Freeze Buildup, while supported skills are dealing Chaos Damage over Time.
