Fog is ruining gameplay

I understand that Tarkov is at heart a hyper-realistic game, and realistic weather is definitely a part of that, but this fog is blatantly unrealistic and terrible for gameplay. On a completely sunny day with no weather conditions, I have so much fog on my screen that I cannot even see across the river on customs, even with a scope. Sniper rifles are literally unusable outside of 200 meters. BSG needs to fix this before they keep adding scopes for extreme long range, and actually fix the fog that's making them unusable.

Does anybody know if there are some settings I could change to fix this or lessen its effects? Anything that can help would be much appreciated, and please let me know if you suffer from this as well.

Settings:

Overall visibility: 3000

They match the weather in Moscow from what I hear. Fog can get thick my dude, like can't see 10 feet in front of you thick sometimes. I personally like that it gets thick sometimes, mixes things up and gives you cover to scoot around in the open better. I dunno.

That sounds like a you problem.. I only get fog on my scope when there's actually thick fog on woods. Even those big end-game scopes are clear for me.

I know for a fact that I am not the only one dealing with it. Not every single player is, but many are.

I think we had a gunfight in Shoreline.

I don't have fog issues on any map.

It's not an issue for everyone, but a lot of people do have it

do you mean not everyone has this fog or everyone has the fog but some people don't care?

To me, yes and no.  It's the only way the devs are able to stop people from sniping across the whole map but the fog makes any scope that's stronger than the 6x useless.

I'm not sure how far the engine is going to render either.  On shoreline, there's a bus by the Lexus advertisement on the beach road and I was able to kill a scav at tunnels with an AK from that bus (~350m) - but none of the vehicles rendered in that far.

@TAW_One Interesting, used to have the same card/settings and didn't see that. All the settings at the bottom (the tick boxes) off?

Do you get the fog on all maps all the time?

Was the LOD always on 4? Used to be that it wasn't wise to go above 2, but recent patch stuck it on 4, it's not directly related to fog but just saying.

Any chance of a screenshot?

I don't understand the issue.

weather is weather.  pretty sure the whole point of the fog or heavy rain is to limit sniping across map...adapt and make sure to be always using a scope with a 1x/2x capability or have a backup mount.  You'd be surprised the kind of damage a sniper with a red dot can do
