{
"body": "I definitely wouldn’t give their souls to another animal and be trapped for eternity. You think that’s normal because you’re use to it in games but it’s actually kinda more fucked up than just killing them and eating them. \n\nYou’re seeing them as units to justify your actions for sacrificing them but then when eating them you don’t see them as units.\n\nGoodbye sir",

"body": "You don't even know that's what's happening, they probably just disappear and don't feel anything. xD And at least you can capture random Pals specifically for that purpose so it's not as bad, you'll barely know or have them before it happens vs using the ones you know and love, you know? That's what I'd do anyway, wouldn't use any of the ones I want and have grown attached to... But capturing them just to kill and eat them sounds awful. :c If it was a wild one that was already trying to kill you then it's not as bad. Either way, them just disappearing is a lot more humane than killing and eating your own Pals in my mind, I don't really know how anyone would think otherwise..."

"body": "If you've played *ARK: Survival Evolved*, then it's basically like that except with obviously more Pokemon inspiration in its art style and capture mechanics. Compared to most Pokemon games other than *Pokemon Legends: Arceus*, the game region does not seem to be highly settled so the presumed gameplay loop is making your own way by building a base, weapons, etc, but to assist with that you need to venture into the countryside to gather stuff, probably catching Pals in the process. Stuff you gather lets you build things on your base, while captured Pals, in addition to helping you fight, can help at tasks on the base like watering plants, charging up a power plant, etc, based on their abilities.\n\nAs for whether the action gameplay is \"kinda like Pokemon with guns\", based on what I've seen it might be better to describe it as \"guns with Pokemon.\" Your character will play mostly like a standard third-person shooter protagonist, although there are also melee attacks, and whether you have any control over your Pals in battle remains to be seen.",

And sadly they do it better than all 3 games. Building placement isn't a buggy mess like ark. Climbing and swimming is faster and fluid unlike botw, stamina exists but it doesn't drag you down the way it seems to in botw. And of course a 3rd person multiplayer open world Pokémon game before Nintendo, shame on them."

They can help you build your base, help you take down stronger pals, fly, and help with resource gathering at your base, etc.\n\nDifferent pals seem to be able to wield or use different guns to help. \nAlso there is a form of fusion between pals by breeding different pals to get a different stuff.\n\nExpect it to play like a survival game mostly. Do not expect pokemon rpg storyline that's \"on the rails\". The game doesn't seem to be heavily story oriented."

"body": "From what I've seen people who have review copies of the game say it's basically nothing like Pokemon outside of some surface level similarities. The art design for the Pals is definitely inspired by it, but gameplay it plays more like Ark where it's primarily a survival crafter game where you farm resources, explore an open world, and build bases while also catching Pals to help aid in these tasks and make survival easier.\n\nThere don't appear to be random trainers out in the wild that will challenge you to a Pal battle the moment your eyes meet, in fact the only NPCs it seems you can battle are the games version of Gym Leaders (called Faction Leaders) and poachers. Maybe something like this will get added in the future, but for now it's pretty much just fighting against wild Pals only.\n\nBut ultimately it's basically just Ark, but replace dinosaurs with Pokemon.",
