Recently there were posts about trillions, quadrillions, quintillions, and sextillions of eggs and a lot of comments were asking how it is possible. As I spent some time understanding strategies for gold farming, I have decided to put it all together for people to get on this pointless, yet fun, grind.\n\nTo start, I assume you have unlocked everything in the game, beat it, and have Queen Sigma and Big Trousers characters available.\n\n**Stage 1 - I have less than 100 eggs, not sure what to do (0 - 1000 eggs)**\n\nPlease note, this guide was made before Tides of Foscari was released. The strategy for this step still works, but it's not optimal. Farming eggs with Trousers in Abyss Foscari is a better option. Other steps are still relevant. \n\nBaby steps. Here, we will leverage the most OP non-egg character in the game, Queen Sigma. Your goal is to farm around 10 million gold. This will take around 2 - 3 hours of somewhat active gameplay.\n\n* Character: Queen Sigma limited to 3 - 4 weapons\n* Stage:\n * Bone Zone with Hyper, Arcanas, Inverse, Limit Break, and Endless enabled\n * (DLC only) Mt. Moonspell with Hyper, Arcanas, Inverse, Limit Break, Endless enabled, and sealed Freeze power up\n* Weapons:\n * Victory Sword - single damage dealer and has good evolution if used correctly (evolve the weapon at the beginning of the luck or curse phase; this will ensure you will get a lot of XP during the growth phase)\n * Greatest Jubilee - a bit of AoE clear and spawns light sources that can drop gold bags - synergizes with Disco of Gold\n * Laurel - to keep you safe\n * Godai Shuffle (DLC) - amazing AoE clear\n * Lightning Ring/Death Spiral (no DLC) - good AoE clear\n* Accessories:\n * Torruna's Box - a lot of curse and enables Victory Sword evolution\n * Skullomaniac - more curse\n * Attractorb - picks up gold bags from Jubilee\n * Empty Tome - damage\n * Candelabrador/Spinach - for Godai Shuffle evolution. This is optional, you are likely to get Godai from Candybox II\n * Stone Mask - bit more gold income\n * Clover - luck boosts the frequency of light sources spawned from Jubilee\n* Arcanas:\n * Wicked Season - mandatory in every gold farming build. Gives 0.5% of greed/curse/luck/growth at every level, doubles greed for 1/4 of the time,\n * Disco of Gold - creates gold rushes when picking bags and keeps you immortal,\n * Sarabande of Healing - keeps you even more immortal and generates a lot of damage when linked with a disco of gold\n * Slash - optional, damage for the victory sword\n * Silent Old Sanctuary - optional, more damage\n\nThis build should generate around 1 - 1.5 million gold / 10 in-game minutes. After getting 10 million you should invest all of this gold into eggs for Big Trousers.\n\n**Stage 2 - Tiny Trousers (1000 - 1 million eggs)**\n\nOk, congrats, you have Trousers with 1000 eggs or so. Our goal is to up this number to a million. Fortunately, Trousers comes with the ability that gives him 1% greed per level up, without any cap. This will speed up farming significantly. The setup is nearly the same as in Stage 1, the only difference being the character. I think this should take around 5 - 6 hours to complete, but I may be wrong - I haven't tested it for that amount of time.\n\nRemember to reset and reinvest the gold into new eggs relatively often, every 20 - 30 minutes, for best results. You can also leave it alone for some period. You shouldn't die, however, the efficiency of the farm will be a bit worse.\n\nOne helpful addition to the build would be Pentagram/Gorgeous Moon for more consistent kills in the later part of the farm. This will later become your primary tool.\n\n**Stage 3 - Trousers that can actually do things (10 - 100 million)**\n\nYou have 1 million eggs, around 20k growth/greed/curse/luck, and are immortal due to the amount of armour and recovery in your stats. This is a good moment to add another source of income to your gold farm - level up gold. If you don't have limit break enabled, at every level you can get extra 25 base gold - which is 1/4 of your greed stat multiplied by the gold multiplier from the stage (x4 on Bone Zone and Mt. Moonspell). This is 20k gold every level + 1.5 gold per level. At this stage getting 10k levels is quite easy, so you know, an extra 200 million for 10k levels adds up. Also, your goal is to minimize the lag as much as possible. The first thing to drop is Victory Sword from the build. It's no longer necessary. Let's recap the setup for this stage:\n\n* Character: Trousers limited to 3 weapons\n* Stage:\n * Bone Zone with Hyper, Arcanas, Inverse, ~~Limit Break~~, and Endless enabled\n * (DLC only) Mt. Moonspell with Hyper, Arcanas, Inverse, ~~Limit Break~~, Endless enabled, and sealed Freeze power up\n* Weapons:\n * Greatest Jubilee - a bit of AoE clear and spawns light sources that can drop gold bags - synergizes with Disco of Gold\n * Pentagram/Gorgeous Moon - for a screen wide clear\n * Anything you like, or limit to 2\n* Accessories:\n * Doesn't matter at this stage. Pick stuff you need for evolutions, otherwise pick whatever.\n* Arcanas:\n * Wicked Season - mandatory in every gold farming build. Gives 0.5% of greed/curse/luck/growth at every level, doubles greed for 1/4 of the time,\n * Disco of Gold - creates gold rushes when picking bags and keeps you immortal,\n * Sarabande of Healing - keeps you even more immortal and generates a lot of damage when linked with a disco of gold\n\nGood thing is, that this build is completely AFK. You can leave it overnight. When doing so, I recommend using Mt. Moonspell and going to the section with yellow flowers that drop red XP gems. You can find them slightly north (on inverse mode) to attractorb.\n\nIdeally, this setup could run forever, but at very high amounts of luck, Greatest Jubilee will create insane lag. You will need to drop it and move to the next phase. It's hard to say when is the exact moment, but my guess is somewhere between 10 - 100 million eggs.\n\nAlso, you will notice that when level-ups are going quickly you can't pick up chests. Those will disappear, but their effect will trigger only after the first burst of level-ups is done. If this happens for the first 10 minutes, you are ready to go to the last stage of farming.\n\n**Step 4 - Big/Huge/Ludicrous Trousers (100 million+)**\n\nThis is the final stage of farming, and it is time for some math/logic behind farming. At this stage you are observing two metrics to make farming most efficient:\n\n* AFKbility - how long you can level up super-fast - this translates into getting as much XP/s as possible\n* Level-ups/s - how quickly you can level up super-fast\n\nXP gain is the highest in Mt. Moonspell in the yellow flowers section. However Mt. Moonspell creates a lag (depending on your PC), so it might not be the best stage for the other metric.\n\nLevel-ups/s are funny. After some discussion with u/azuranc we have discovered that this is capped by your screen refresh rate. It seems that the game is processing level up every 4 frames (roughly). I am getting around 15 level-ups per second with 60 Hz when he was getting around 35 but on a 144 Hz screen. However, this is a cap. If your PC is not able to draw enough frames, you will do it slower. So less lag, and more level-ups.\n\nNow, the more eggs you have, the longer you will level-up from the initial XP you get. This will grow FAST, so there will be a moment when you won't care about XP/s anymore. AFKbility will become nearly infinite for practical purposes.\n\nThis means that for final farming we want a stage with the highest gold multiplier and lowest possible lag. The set-up I am using for this is Bone Zone with hyper, hurry, arcanas, and inverse modes enabled. For arcana I take Wicked Season and Sarabande of Healing. After 15 real-time minutes, you will enter the reaper phase of the map, however, you have so much armour that they won't be able to kill you. And your Sarabande will be able to kill them. So you have an effectively empty stage and level-ups go as fast as possible on your PC.\n\nCongrats, you can farm endlessly.\n\n**Stage 5 - Exponential growth and optimizations**\n\nSo how are people getting those insane whatever-llions amount of eggs? Well, you will notice that the growth is exponential. Getting from 100 million to 100 billion will take the same amount of time as from 100 billion to 100 trillion, and so on. You can, however, impact this time.\n\nThe gold accrued in the current run is not working for you, as it isn't translated into eggs yet. This means, that more often you reset, the better result you will get. Now, there is an optimal breakpoint for this, which depends on your screen's refresh rate and how long it takes you to reset the run. I won't calculate it, but anything above 5 minutes should be fine.\n\nYou can also optimize your setup time. You need lvl 1 pentagram and passives don't matter. What I do is take pentagram at the start, after first explosion I get first 6 passives that show-up and banish everything until I can click always gold bag.\n\n**Final thoughts**\n\nAs you know, this grind is completely pointless :)Any questions - feel free to ask.\n\n\n\n**Edits**\n\n* Marked DLC content and provided alternatives",

Now I’d like to see at what point the game stops counting on pc. On iOS we have a gold cap of 2.147 billion per run. I’m curious if the egg cap will be the same on iOS.\n\n I’m further curious what that cap per run and egg cap for the game will be on pc. Hard for me to tell the exact egg amount, but at the point level up gold starts to become the majority of your income, it's best to just let go of it as it's simply far too laggy. I think it should be in the low millions? At that point you can also drop Disco of Gold, as without Greatest Jubilee spawning head sources you won't have a sustained gold fever.\n\nMy typical starter from low millions up until \\~10m was Garlic + Wicked Season + Bloody Astronomia, was basically lagless. After 10m I started dropping garlic too (just banishing every weapon so that I don't have any), Bloody Astronomia keeps killing well enough by itself.",

Probably I'm just too dense ;)\n\nSo I have managed to get the first 1000+ eggs for Trousers (Stage 1 worked wonders and I think I got close to 3M gold/hour). But I don't really understand how to get to 1 million eggs.\n\nFirst of all, the gold seem to cap at 9 999 999, so that means I can only purchase 1000 eggs at the time. And every run only seem to let me buy eggs 1 time. Even if the vendor respawns, which it does sometimes (not sure when), it still won't allow me to buy more eggs.\n\nThat means I have to restart the whole procedure every 10M gold to buy more eggs. Two major problems with this:\n\n1, if I'm pushing 1M eggs, that would take me 1000 runs to manually purchase eggs, which would take forever.\n\n2, to get the procedure started it takes about 10-15 minutes (I guess that will go down the more powerful I get), so it will require quite some manual time.\n\nI must be misunderstanding something because it would take weeks to push 1 million eggs like this, if not months. You say it should take 5-6 hours to complete, so what am I missing here :)\n\nBesides, I still get around the same amount of gold with Trousers as the Queen. I have been having trouble with my entry-level gaming PC (well... entry-level in 2018, anyway), the FPS drop is constant and this makes levelling up very slow (and basically EVERYTHING very slow). The build I'm suggesting has a slower start (at under 25k eggs) but it's nice and safe to leave overnight without your PC struggling.\n\nI tried to find the least taxing build for stage 2, and got to this:\n\nSeal Fire Breath. There will still be one at the very beginning which will last a long time, but that's fine. Otherwise follow the original guide for Sealing. Play on the DLC map, choose Laurel at the start and Wicked Season. Immediately buy Mad Groove.\n\nGet Armor (for the % bonus retaliation damage), the cursed items, Empty Tome, Crown, Clover. Pick up Spinach, the rings and the upgrade items for Crimson Shroud, Candelabrador, Stone Mask and Attractorb. Just dismiss the rest. Pick up the first chest you see, it's probably either the Crimson Shroud Evo or Candybox - get Gorgeous Moon.\n\nIf you're fast enough to outrun pickups, run around and only stop to eat up XP in the beginning during the Growth phase.\n\nFrom the two Arcana chests, get Disco of Gold and Silent Old Sanctuary. Divine Bloodline at minute 30 (unsure if needed, always got it just to be safe). If you haven't gone AFK yet and are still worried about lacking damage, get Blood Astronomia at 60. It doesn't seem to affect my FPS but if it does for you, skip it.\n\nCrimson Shroud absolutely wrecks everything really fast and my PC barely lags even towards the ends of a cycle.\n\nYou might have to manually level up a bit at the very begginning and pick gold bags (do NOT use \"always pick\" if you are under 1 mil eggs, you will never get any upgrades for your weapons).\n\nYou won't be keeping Gold Fever up easily as with other builds, but that's fine by me :) I think the tons of Chests that you can pick up during the Greed phase at the end of a 8 hour run (with insane amounts of Greed) is mooore than enough.\n\nAt min 60, with 35k eggs, I had 25M gold (2 chests picked up) and was level 4800. Not great, but it's a constant increase with a surge of the GOOD CHEMICALS in the morning when you pick up your million accumulated chests.\n\nLE: The first overnight run got me from 35k eggs to 170k+ eggs. After that, I had to drop Gorgeous Moon because I was simply getting too much XP to ever be able to pick up chests and Arcanas, so now it's just level 1 Crimson Shroud (Always Gold Chest on level up). I think that at higher egg levels I can just let Divine Bloodline kill everything, but I need to test it."

I walked away after 15 minutes of play. The XP is important, since greed will go up with level. Your guide cites a rate of 10 million in two or three hours: I got 170 million gold in three hours, using your build in step one and adding Mad Groove. She goes up in level faster than any character other than Gains: after three hours, i was level 6500+ and my greed was well over 3000. \n\nAll of this continues to accelerate as levels go up. You make more in the third hour than the first and second combined. By a lot. This is without having put any points into curse or charm power-ups, which was obviously stupid on my part. You don't mention this, but you should clearly be maximizing the number of enemies on the screen: curse and charm power-ups, gold ring, right metaglio, all maxed. Maxing gold production is about three things: maximizing the number of enemies, maximizing your greed, and staying alive, preferably afk.\n\nFor what it's worth, the XP bonus that Sigma gets means she outearns a zero-egg Trousers after an hour or so if you just keep the run going. She should hit level 1000 while he's still at 318, at which point the .5% greed/lvl for her offsets the 1.5% Trousers gets; by 2000 he's only getting 70% of her gold. The fact that he keeps the gold frenzy going longer is meaningless when they both (at that point) have luck so high that it's basically constant.\n\nThe reason to switch to Trousers is that he can utilize eggs, but she can't. It would take hours upon hours for her to overcome a typical 1000-egg starting bonus for both greed and growth, much less higher levels. But Gains will gain Growth twice as fast as sigma, and can utilize eggs on top of that. It's possible a Gains build can outearn a Trousers build because of this. Keep in mind that the Mad Groove arcana is still important because it will keep your screen clear of everything except chests, which you'll need to check in on and clear every few hours. Curious to see if anyone else has tried this.",

With attractorb at max, Mad Groove Arcana brings all of the xp gems within range, and they're picked up automatically every two minutes as a result.\n\nYour first hour isn't a good measure, because the numbers accelerate dramatically as time goes on. More XP means higher levels, which means more greed (i.e., more gold from the same pickups). You probably spent 10 minutes of your first hour getting set up, and then were at a relatively low level; your second hour would have been substantially more gold than another 570k. By a factor of 10, most likely.\n\nKeep in mind you should have all curses and charms and such at max. More enemies = more XP, and more gold. I did this before I downloaded the DLC, btw.\n\nSince this post, I've tried it with Gains at 1000 eggs, but for me the game lost its fun after that. The puzzle of maxing out your gold gains at the beginning was interesting, but the game is unplayable with 1000+ eggs. And i can't hold the Goldrush - it drains mostly out - while in an enemyswarm with around 7-10k, it seems like not getting fueled at some point and runs out. \n\nI m aware this is a year old, and there where some updates - but the principle should still work?! I recognized some \"better passives\"(like karoma's mana) available through castlevania-update. Still try to figure out the basics of this. \n\nI understand so far, that the main thing is, to keep the goldrush burning, right? I tried to, but on my build, which is nearly as described(besides whats changed in the followed updates) on \"baby steps\". \n\nBut goldrush only triggers sporadically and burns out fast - my intention to stay put, slows that down, while moving the avatar just speeds the drain. Through the not much spawning moneybags, it just gets filled to meager/to sporadic to keep it going. \n\nI kinda figured out, that it may hang on the limit break - wouldn't the moneybags from chests fuel the goldrush more? \n\n(I m not very familiar with goldfarming in generell since i normally just need it to get new Avatars, and progress unlockables/powerups, and my playthroughs throw out enough. Since the new characters cost like 250-900k - i m not eager to endlessly burn time to get 'em.)\n\nSo can anyone clarify this method a little further for me please? Maybe it's a simple unknown step i forgot/oversaw.\n\nThanks in advance for taking the time."

"body": "This is the most useful guide I've seen on this. I'm at about 3m eggs on Trousers on a rather underpowered laptop, so lag is a huge concern for me. I kind of micromanaged and ended runs within 5-30 minutes if I was unhappy with the rate. Some of my observations:\n\n* Before 50k eggs, Abyss Foscari egg farm by the Torrona's Box, Game Killer arcana to keep mini guardians at level 1, and focus on screenwide DPS. Victory Sword at first, then change to Godai Shuffle, then Garlic + Blood Astronomia. No other arcanas necessary (Slash, Divine Bloodline, Sarabande of Healing are good for dps).\n* From 50k to about 1.5m eggs, Bat Country with Greatest Jubilee, Wicked Season, and Disco of Gold. From chests you can take Soul Eater and Blood Astronomia for faster screen clears. The bats have very low base HP which ensures a very rapid start and a steady flow of coins after your levels plateau. I got by far the most gold using this setup.\n * Bone Zone has more gold bonus, but the enemies aren't absurdly weak like the bats, so I often reached a distinct slowdown point as they outpaced my damage. Also when using a Greatest Jubilee setup, I felt that there was more lag than in Bat Country, probably from the lightmap and spawned torches.\n* After a certain point when you can continuously level up for 30 minutes, you can go Bone Zone with Endless disabled, take Pentagram, Wicked Season, and Blood Astronomia, and hang about until you run out of XP.\n * I've tested this a few times and it's still slower than Bat Country Jubilee at 3m eggs.\n* Yellow flowers on Mt. Moonspell are very nice for rapid xp gain but they're very tanky and quickly outpace your dps after a while. Additionally, the stage is very visually busy and I was netting about 5 levels/second on my machine with Godai Shuffle. Ultimately, not worth all the resets early on.\n* Most CPU friendly weapons include Pentagram/Gorgeous Moon, Garlic/Soul Eater, and Blood Astronomia, with only a bit of lag for Four Seasons/Godai Shuffle. Sarabande of Healing can cause lag if there are too many pulses, but is bar none the best DPS when combined with Disco of Gold. Phieraggi gets an honorable mention for consistent screen damage with only some lag.",
