    "selftext": "I've been playing for a while now and have the majority of the weapon combination, but I still have a handful left to discover. \n\nIs there any way to help find the combinations other than just looking them up or experimentation? Wasn't sure if I'm missing something.",

      "body": "In the pause menu, there's a category to show an evolution guide, and it sometimes spoils some combinations by showing which weapon goes with which item while keeping the result hidden.\n\nAside from that, the most obvious way is to make 2 lists : the items you know about and the weapons that you know about.\n\nRemove the known combinations, remove the weapons sold at the merchant (they don't have an evolution) look at the leftover items, and try to match those together to see what happens.\n\nFor the base weapons (not DLC, not unlocked by secret characters like Avatar), there's only one combination for each item, so if you already unlocked half of the evolutions then it's easy to figure out the rest.\n\nI don't think that that's any logic that can help here, unless you already know what it's going to evolve the weapon into... and even then it's not always clear.",

          "body": "When i first started , i tried to use logic for the upgrades , the first one i discovered was the wand with cooldown reduction, so i thought \" a mage\"\n\nThen i tried Axes with Armor , as a Warrior and Pidgeon with movement speed wings , as in..you know...flying , but nah , i was quite disappointed"

          "body": "The one in the pause menu is the grimoire and it only shows the combinations you have already discovered, it doesn’t show ones that you have not yet made",

              "body": "Sometimes it shows things before you unlock them.\n\nFor example I recently bought the Moonspell DLC, and some combinations were visible before I even unlocked the base weapon."

              "body": "It will show items that you have picked up, so if you pick up the Santa Water and the Attractorb it will show that both of them will combine to form a question mark."

                  "body": "Commenting on an old post but I cannot find any other reference to this seemingly arbitrary aspect of the game. Do we know why it is that some combinations are revealed before you actually discover the evolution?\n\nI don’t think it’s just a matter of having acquired both of the required components - I’ve definitely done that with some combinations before I was able to evolve the weapon without having the recipe revealed to me.\n\nDo you maybe have to have one or both of the components at max level, but not evolve them?"

      "body": "In game, it will only show the evolutions after doing them yourself. Apart from experimentation and wiki, there aren't many other ways. You can look at what synergises and what has already had an evolution, and then go from there."

      "body": "Just experiment, or cheat using the wiki. Some can be a bit difficult to discover though as there are a few that require more than usual."

      "body": "At first, total accident. \nI pushed myself to wait and see if I could find them myself…. But my temperament gets bored with that so I just looked the rest of them up. And I had fun with that too!"

      "body": "There's a stage called Moongolow that has every passive item except the cursed box. You can use that to test combinations super easily."

      "body": "The early ones I simply picked up and systematically paired with every passive. Some of the late game ones were too obscure and I couldn't figure out how I even evolved them, so I had to check the Wiki.\n\nThankfully with the Grimoire the issue of seeing evolution paths after discovering them isn't an issue anymore."

      "body": "First couple were totally by mistake. Then I used the pause menu to help narrow the rest down.\n\nI had a personal theory that similar shaped/colored items combined.. like the cross and the clover, holy water and the blue attractorb, bible and yellow square, grey armor and grey diamond, etc. Of course none of this is true, but it made sense to me at the time."
