"selftext": "I have searched around the internet and I cant seem to find any mention of that part of the game? I have a suspicion that they will be using the same tree, but making some large changes to it, but it is absolutely one of the coolest things about the game, and I'd love to hear that they have an even more insane type of thing they are unveiling for the sequel!",

The currently known new weapon types include Crossbows and Spears, both of which will need new passives. You could try to roll them into bows/staffs respectively, but that would do weird stuff in the case of spears, having their passives be in the str/int side of the tree. Shapeshifting is also going to need new passive skills, almost certainly.\n\nIf they're adding too many more new build archetypes, it might be necessary to re-organize the tree entirely. If they do that, then it might turn into a complete re-work.",

"body": "So I just looked up PoE 2 because I was getting frustrated by the d4 crowd being so stupid on the topic of trading and how it's supposedly so bad... anyway when I looked up PoE 2 I just see this video of what looked like exactly the same gameplay of PoE 1 with a new act or something and I swear you could have just told me it was a video for a new league and I woulda believed it.\n\nSo my question is, is PoE 2 actually gonna be a new game, with a new graphics engine completely new in every way like how D4 is obviously as totally new game compared to d3 with new graphics and everything like that, or is that video I saw really all that PoE 2 is gonna be, aka just like an expansion basically?\n\nhttps://www.pathofexile.com/poe2\n\nThis was the video I watched, it's on the official site, was very disappointing that it's not looking like an actual new game, just a massive patch or whatever...",

If anything it's a relief that it's not a new game because it would split the playerbase and we would lose all our microtransactions which doesn't make any sense. Not to a company with their head in the right place anyway.",

Doesn't help that they calling it PoE 2 like that feels misleading, like they didn't think calling it an expansion would be good enougn marketing wise... :P",

"body": "It is not a new game. It is just a massive update.\n\nPoEs graphics engine is constantly being updated. A lot of the visual updates we have gotten over the past years comes from their development on PoE2. A lot of features they release when they are ready instead of holding it back for the PoE2 release. There is obviously some stuff that they will be holding back for PoE2 release.\n\nPoEs engine will have changed more from 2012 PoE to PoE2 than D3 changed to D4, but the change from 2023 PoE to PoE2 probably wont be as large. People joke about the line they put into every patch note where they say \"Continue to incrementally improve the game\", but compare todays PoE from a few years ago and there has been massive changes.\n\nWhat is a new game or not can be kinda semantics. PoE2 will be a much larger update than any recent fifa/nhl/cod game or OW2 has been and those call themselves new games."

{
"body": "poe currency is amazing."
},
{
"body": "Currency is just fine as long as you understand the fundamentals behind it. GGG never says \"a chaos orb is worth X\". The value of currency relative to other currency is based on what it can be used for. If they released a new base type that became popular and blessed orbs all of a sudden had a much more important role to play, their value would go up. In an item driven economy you shouldn't keep your wealth in crafting orbs and when you play standard you should be buying items with legacy mods that get rarer as time goes on.",
"replies": [
{
"body": "They actually do, every item is worth X, and they go up in value, merchants define this value.\n\nThey could have had gold which dropped as this shard of identification base value, and incremented as it went, and a merchant which sold orbs for their equivalent value, the baselines are there already, just really shit implementation.\n\nSure I can learn how to craft a stone wheel but why would I bother when I can play video games that have wheel barrows already.",
"replies": [
{

{

Better to let D4 hype to die out than bring your hype.\n\nI have more faith in POE2 bc they need players engaged to make money, while blizzard probly already made their investiment back with pre-order"
